BEGINNER DUMBBELL CHEST PROGRESSION

Recommended Starting Movement:
Flat Dumbbell Bench Press & Dumbbell Floor Press

Beginners should start with either the Dumbbell Floor Press or Flat Dumbbell Bench Press using moderate weights for sets of 10 to 12 reps. Keep your elbows tucked at approximately 45 to 60 degrees relative to your torso rather than flaring out at 90 degrees, keeping the tension directly on your pecs while sparing the rotator cuff.

school WHY TRAIN CHEST WITH DUMBBELLS? (BIOMECHANICAL ADVANTAGES)

Dumbbell chest training allows your hands to follow a natural converging arc as you press, achieving peak pectoral contraction that a straight barbell physically cannot match. Independent dumbbells eliminate dominant-side compensation and grant your shoulder joints the freedom to rotate safely to avoid anterior impingement.

Natural Converging Arcs Follows individual clavicular angles rather than rigid barbell paths.
Unilateral Equilibrium Ensures both sides develop equal strength, eliminating visual and functional asymmetries.
Home Gym Accessibility Perform a complete world-class muscle workout with zero bulky machine requirements.
